Warranty and contract coverage
Make coverage decisions from recorded evidence.
What to do
- Open the relevant equipment or service context and review Coverage. Use the service date and requested type of work.
- Review installation evidence, warranty information and the applicable contract version. Installation date matters for installation-based warranty rules.
- Read the outcome and supporting information. Unknown and Conflict require investigation; neither means Not covered.
- When allowed to maintain coverage, enter explicit versioned rules and reasons based on approved agreements. Do not infer contractual promises from a contract name.
- Recheck the applicable historical decision when reviewing an older service report or quotation.
Before you continue
The product does not invent a warranty end date or automatic free service when required information is absent.
Labour and parts can have different coverage. A covered labour item does not automatically make parts free.
Questions and troubleshooting
Can I bill an Unknown item as covered?
Do not make a free-service promise from missing data. Obtain the missing evidence or approved decision first.
Does a current rule rewrite old decisions?
Historical service decisions use their recorded service date and applicable version. Review history rather than assuming today’s rule applies retroactively.
